Marvel Champions Randomizer: The Top 3 Tools We Recommend

Marvel Champions Randomizer

Marvel Champions is a deck-building card game that allows players to take on the role of their favorite superheroes from the Marvel Universe. With over 50 different hero and villain decks, there are endless combinations for players to explore. However, with so many options available, it can be overwhelming for players to decide which combination they should play.

To help make this decision easier, we have listed our three favorite Marvel Champions randomizer tools that will select hero, scenario, and module combinations for you to try out. In this article, we will discuss the top three recommended Marvel Champions randomizers.

How Does a Randomizer Work?

You know the feeling. The thought of playing one more game of Marvel Champions against Rhino and Bomb Scare… Don’t get us wrong, we love this game and have nothing against playing the scenarios with the recommended modules – but sometimes you just need some variety.

Obviously, you can throw in an expert to spice things up, but why not experiment instead with the excellent and varied modular sets? They really are an amazing resource for keeping a scenario fresh and giving villains a different feel or difficulty level. And to be honest they are one of my favorite things about this game.

But using them is often not a high priority, or can feel intimidating to try and bring in other modules.

My advice: take the guesswork out of it and pick your next scenario with one of our three recommended (FREE!) randomizer tools – each built by members of the Marvel Champions community.

Each of them is as easy as selecting the content you own, dialing in any preferences, and then clicking a button. Then a bit of magic happens on the backend with algorithms and other application stuff, but it out pops a scenario, complete with a villain and the correct number of modular sets. The algorithm takes into account the difficulty level, hero and villain synergies, and player preferences to generate a well-balanced and exciting combination.

You can continue generating new combinations until you find one that suits your playstyle and preferences, but once you do, you are ready to set up a new and exciting game.

Note that these are all browser-based applications, so you’ll need to go to the website, not an app.

BIG THANKS to the folks who took on this project and created these tools and have been keeping them up to date with each content release.

Now, let’s take a look at the top three recommended Marvel Champions Randomizers (click on the title of each section to link to the tool):

Marvel Champions Randomizer

  • Best all-around tool

This option has the best balance of simplicity and functionality. You can dial in preferences for your scenario, including difficulty and number of players and it will give you villain, modular, hero, and aspect for up to four players.

the only thing I don’t love is that it isn’t clear that anything has happened when you click the generate button, but if you scroll down, you’ll see it has processed your request and spit out a ready-to-play scenario.

A couple of things that are great about this one is, that even though this is a Marvel Champions randomizer, you can pick which scenario you want it to randomize for. That is great news if you know who you want to play against generally, but just want it to be a little bit more interesting this time around. I also value the inclusion of Standard II and Expert II as randomized options that can be turned on and off. Despite their shortcomings, I still like to play them from time to time.

This is probably the best tool for most people, but keep reading because there is a much simpler option and a much more complex option for people with different goals.

Marvel Shuffle

  • Best one-click solution and best overall design

This delivers on everything you need to select for your game – nothing more nothing less – and it does so in a very elegant way. You’ll select the content you own from the list (which is up to date as of this writing), but after that, with the click of a button, the tool will spit out random scenarios with random modules/encounters set to try, and even what hero you’ll be playing with. It’s very quick and satisfying, and more visually appealing than the other two.

Another unique feature here is a button that allows me to move to the next scenario in the campaign. That’s nice if I want random modules, but I still want to play through, say, the Mutant Genesis campaign box. But, in truth, I can’t imagine using that feature much. I’d rather randomize outside of a campaign.

This one is missing the ability to set difficulty, which is a downside, but that was the only feature I missed. No nonsense here. Just a clean, effective randomizer.

Marvel Champions Deck Randomizer

  • Best for customization and the only tool that creates fully customized decklists

But wait, you ask? What if I don’t just want a random scenario? What if if I want to randomize my deck too?

This randomizer delivers on that, giving you an application to not only give you a hero and an aspect to work with but actually generate a decklist for you to play with. So while the others will tell you to pair Phoenix with say, Justice. This will tell you exactly which cards to throw in your deck.

We ran a couple of these simulations and, from what we say, it consistently creates playable decks (as opposed to a random assortment of cards, as you might expect). It is somehow mapping the relationship between certain cards based on data pulled for the data on marvelcdb.com so it is actually loading in cards that complement each other, and including an additional copy or two of most cards, like a real deck builder would. Impressive.

The interface is not as clean as the other two, but it over-delivers on the precision with which you can dial things in. Like the others, this is all the way up to date, as of this writing but, what sets it apart is that it is the most elaborate of the three tools. While I value the simplicity of the others, I’d favor this one if you are looking for full decklists and maximum functionality.

Conclusion: Shake It Up

Using a Marvel Champions randomizer tool takes the guesswork out of choosing hero and villain combinations. It provides players with balanced and exciting pairings that will keep them entertained for hours.

Big thanks to the kind folks who took on this project and built us these great tools! The community is in your debt.
