Card Storage

I have tried everything – from (desperately) trying to make the core box work, to large customized storage boxes. I’ve found solid solutions that worked for a while, but that I eventually grew out of.

When considering storage options, it’s important to account for whether your cards are unsleeved, in standard sleeves, or in premium sleeves, as this will impact the overall card capacity.

I’ve made every mistake, but you don’t have to. Check out the options below, starting with the solution I’ve arrived at after a ton of experimentation.

BEST IN CLASS: Thematic wooden storage box from DayDream Games

I’ve finally found it, the ultimate solution. It’s beautiful, it’s durable, it’s thematic. But most importantly: It boasts an impressive card capacity, holding an incredible amount of cards – more than a BCW.

Can’t be overstated how pretty these are. They fit perfectly in a Kallax, so you can proudly display your collection on your shelf. It arrives flatpacked, so you’ll have to glue it together, but it’s very easy to put together, even if you are hopeless around the shop (like me).

Now you’ll need a couple if you want to get everything loaded in these boxes, but as of this writing – you would only need two. Full transparency, I only have one. I use it to store all scenarios, all modular sets, and one deck for each aspect. AND I STILL HAVE AN EMPTY ROW. This is perfect for me, since I can take everything I could possibly need with me to my FLGS every week and I still have room to grow.

VERY GOOD: Gamegenic Dungeon 1100+

I’ve used the Gamegenic Dungeon, to store my cards for a while, and they extremely durable, and well-made. They work very well, especially if you are also planning to use deck boxes. The Gamegenic Dungeon can accommodate cards in standard sleeves, ensuring that your collection remains organized and protected.

I ended up have a couple problems with it. First, the box is intended to store deck boxes, so the rows are quite wide. To do it properly, you’ll need to purchase card rails separately in order to effectively store your collection.

Here was the deal breaker for me, if you add the rails, the tesserect dividers that I recommend below don’t fit. You can’t close the box. This is fine for home storage, but very problematic for transport or if you need to stack the boxes.

That said, if you use different dividers, you’ll be very happy with these.

IF YOU ARE JUST STARTING: Folded Space Insert and Etsy

If you aren’t planning to pick up much more content, the folded space insert can be a great solution, if you don’t plan to pick up much content.

My preference is this 3d printed option on Etsy, that use the core box and the expansion boxes, and have great storage solutions for the tokens built in.

I ONLY recommend this method if you are staying lean and plan to be able to keep your collection in a couple boxes, but, if so, these options will work great.

AFFORDABLE AND EFFECTIVE: Big ‘ol BCW

There’s no Shame in just throwing everything in the big cardboard BCW card holders. They aren’t thematic or high quality, but they get the job done. They don’t do the best job of protecting your cards as a more robust option and I wouldn’t recommend it as a portable option, but the price is right.

You Need Sleeves!

Quick note here: you need sleeves. There’s an incredible amount of shuffling in this game.

You can get away with only sleeving the scenarios, hero cards, and then only the cards in active decks – that works well. But protect your cards – sleeve them up.

I like the Gamegenic sleeves because they aren’t incredibly expensive and are high quality – god shuffle feel.

I have everything in matte, which is nice for limiting glare, but, to be honest, I wish that I had used prime sleeves, to better display the art, so that’s what I recommend.

 Portable Solutions and Deck Boxes

I play this game once a week at my FLGS, so being able to pack up my decks and a couple of scenarios for various card games is essential for me. Here’s the different options I’ve used starting with my favorite portable solution:

Hobby Lobby Artist’s Case

The Artist’s Case from Hobby Lobby has earned its popularity among Marvel Champions players for a reason. It store several hundred sleeved cards, if you add an insert (like this one from Broken Token).

For a while this held my whole collection – until I grew out of it. Now it holds my MTG Jumpstart battle box, but that’s another story…

It’s got a handle and holds a bunch of cards, so this can be a great option, especially for a mid-size collection.

Quiver

If I know, for sure what scenario we are going to play, like, for instance, the weekly one-shots, I love to use the Quiver.

I throw in the scenario (and a back up, in case we have time for two) and a deck for every aspect. does a great job protecting the cards and it is extremely easy to transport.

Gamegenic Watchtower

Many of the people I play with use this. They throw one deck in each side and keep their tokens in the middle.

This is a fantastic option – especially if you aren’t responsible for bringing the scenarios.

 Deck Boxes

Want to put your decks in their own cases. I’ve seen people use cassette boxes and other creative options, but it’s card to beat the Boulder 60s for this. Get one in each aspect color to store your current active decks.

No marvel Champions storage solution is complete without dividers. You need a way to easily identify what you need so you can pull content, whether it’s scenarios or modular sets.

Cheap plastic option

I started with paper index cards, but those quickly became tattered and useless. I then moved on to simple colored plastic dividers, which work great, but aren’t labeled, so I’d have to remember where things were (can’t say I regret having picked them up, as I still use the all the time.

BEST IN CLASS: Tesseract Games Dividers

The best solution are the dividers form Tesseract Games. The design is really nice and with everything labeled, they make everything, including modular sets, easy to find. They are a little pricey to get in to, but they really do make a huge difference and have improved my set up time and deck building process immensely.

I can’t recommend them enough.

Token Storage

Gamegenic Token silo

I use the Gamegenic token silo, which I love and is very functional, carrying everything I need in separate compartments, so that I can just pop the lid, and I’m ready to play.

I’m still looking for something that is incorporated into my card carrying box, but this is the best solution I’ve found and the thing I recommend for token storage.

DIY Storage Solutions

For those who love a personalized touch, DIY storage solutions offer endless possibilities. One popular option is the folded space insert, which can be tailored to fit your specific Marvel Champions cards and tokens. Cardboard or foam inserts can also be used to create custom dividers and compartments, ensuring that every piece of your collection has its place.
